I began teaching at HCHS in 1992 after earning a BA from Calvin College (now University). Additionally, I have earned an M.Ed with an emphasis in educational technology and participated in the Target Inquire program at GVSU. I enjoy using videos and inquiry learning to bring individualized learning into my classroom.

I chose to teach in a Christian school because I want to be able to show students more than just how the creation works (on a molecular level). I want to help them deepen their faith through that knowledge. In my chemistry classes, we routinely ponder the question: “How does what you have learned enhance your view of God, His world, and your place in it?” This allows us to step back and see a bigger picture, one that cannot be shown in other schools.
