Psalm 8

A psalm of David.

1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

It is not by coincidence that all of our children throughout Holland Christian spend this month committing the worshipful words found in Psalm 8 to memory. King David invites us to look up and behold the majesty of our Creator. He implores us to marvel at the intricate mysteries spread before us on this earth and beyond. We are encouraged to listen to the praises of our young children and allow them to lead our hearts in praise to God. As a family, if you take walks outdoors this month as the earth unfurls in autumnal glory, you might speak together the words of Psalm 8 and offer our Creator worship as you walk. Your child may even lead you in motions or a tune to help you commit these inspirational truths to memory. It is such joy to walk this journey with your dear child.

Yours in Christ’s service,

Miska

Walkathon – THANK YOU!

Wow!! Thank you so much for your support for walkathon! We were able to raise a significant amount of funds that will support our classrooms, teachers, and buildings as a whole. We are so grateful for the time to come together as a pre-k-8th grade community, and for the generosity of our amazing community. Thank you!

NEW Office Contact Information

If you need to get in touch with the office, please email our new administration assistant team from Pine Ridge who will be taking on the care of our Forest Family, Cara Boss & Kristi Washburn, at pr@hollandchristian.org or call 616.820.3505. Feel free to leave a voicemail or send us an email at any time to excuse your student, let us know about appointments or any changes to your student’s normal pickup routine. It is important the office knows as well as your student’s teacher! As always, your friend and principal is eager to hear from you as well.

A Note From Food Services

Food service is in full swing, thanks to YOU for being patient and persistent with our Family Portal. Please continue to use the family portal to deposit funds into your lunch account. We are a Pre Pay system, and appreciate families having funds in your child’s account when they choose to take hot lunch. There is no fee to deposit money into your account online. Familyportal.cloud is where you can deposit funds, or apply for lunch benefits. If you do not know your student account number, reach out and email Kristi or email Cara in the Pine Ridge office.

For those families that are receiving lunch benefits and only want milk, the NSLP does not give benefits for milk only. If your students want free or reduced price milk, they may take a fruit, vegetable, and then the milk will be under your benefits.

Substitute Need

Help Needed!! Forest School has a handful of WONDERFUL individuals who faithfully jump in and help us fill in for teachers and aides who need to be absent from the classroom. We need to add to this group! If you have even a spark of interest in subbing in a class room at Forest School, or you know of someone who may be interested, please reach out and email Kristi and email Cara in the office at 616.820.3505. Subbing hours can range from a few hours, to a full day (8:00am-3:15pm). If it is your preference to sub only in Forest School, we can make that happen! A teaching certificate is NOT required.
