Psalm 36: 5-9

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the ocean depths.
You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.
7     How precious is your unfailing love, O God!
All humanity finds shelter
in the shadow of your wings.
8 You feed them from the abundance of your own house,
letting them drink from your river of delights.
9 For you are the fountain of life,
the light by which we see.

This time of year we are reminded of the love that God has for us and that he has asked us to share with the hurting world around us. I am encouraged when I see that love being shone here at Pine Ridge and throughout our community interactions. May God’s love shine on you today and may you know that you are truly loved by God our good father. I look forward to the coming months here at Pine Ridge where we will have opportunities to show God’s love in tangible ways from food drives, visiting those in need of a friend and learning how to support each other in tough times. Thank you for partnering with us in this good work.

God bless you,
Dinah

Enrollment for 2023-24

For full information on enrollment dates and links, please see the separate email sent out earlier today to all parents. However, for all parents with children in kindergarten or above, it’s nice to be reminded that Holland Christian is a continuous enrollment school. This means, in an effort to simplify the process for our current K-12 families, you will not need to re-apply every year (this is, after kindergarten). We are happy that you are a part of the Holland Christian family, and our hope and plan is that you want to continue partnering with us in the years to come!

Elementary Athletic Opportunities

Running Clubs

The PR Girl’s Running Club and TTQ (the boy’s running club) are both looking for coaches for this spring! We are so excited to offer these opportunities to our students again but need parent volunteers to make it work. For more information or to volunteer, please email the office. We hope to get registrations open soon but need the volunteers first.

Holland Little League is excited to offer baseball and softball for kids ages 5 through 12. Sign up HERE on Holland Little League’s website to get your child outside this spring and on a team. Younger levels (age 7 and below) are formed based on the elementary schools, so it is likely your child will have others they know on their team. Registration closes February 28, so act soon and get your child signed up! Financial help with the registration cost is available. Please email: littleleagueholland@gmail.com. If you know of anyone interested in coaching, or helping coach a team this year please email Matt Richardson at richardsonm252@gmail.com.

Hearing and Vision Screening

The Allegan County Health Department will be in our school March 6-8 for Hearing and Vision Screening for all students. If your child wears glasses, please be sure he/she has them at school. If you prefer to not have your child screened, please stop in the office by Wednesday, March 1, 2023 to fill out the provided opt-out form that provides documentation of a recent screening elsewhere.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Spring parent teacher conferences will be on March 20 and 27 (virtual) from 4-8pm. More details and signup information will be coming as we get closer.

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day is back this spring! On April 20, grandparents and grand friends will be invited to Pine Ridge in the afternoon. More details to come as we get closer. (South Side will be having grandparents day on April 20 in the morning)

Tulip Time

In 2018, Tulip Time reframed their mission statement, which now reads “Mission Statement: Welcoming the world into our community by celebrating tulips, Dutch heritage, and Holland today.” To better align ourselves with their mission statement as well as with the goals here at Holland Christian, our HC elementary students will be given two options for dressing up and walking in the the 2023 Kinderparade. More details will be forthcoming as we get closer to Tulip Time, but we want you to be aware of the options well in advance of the Tulip Time season. All 1st-4th graders from South Side and Pine Ridge will be given the option of walking in either our “tulip” section of the parade or our “Dutch heritage” section.

  • If your 3rd or 4th grade student chooses to opt into the “tulip” section of our parade, your child will design and construct his or her own tulip to carry and then dress as a gardener based around our “Streams of Living Water” t-shirt. This gardener costume might include gardening boots and gloves, overalls, a wide-brimmed hat, etc. Anything you have handy at home that helps your child look like a busy gardener tilling the tulips will fit the part perfectly!
  • Students who opt into the “Dutch heritage” portion of our student body will wear their own Dutch costume and carry the parade props our students have carried in the past.

More details about logistics, costumes and timing will be coming soon.

Pine Ridge Carpool Line

When you’re first in line, pull all the way up to the bike racks please! Please also remember to enter/exit off of Graafschap and no stopping in the circle as it is part of the bus lane too! These are Michigan laws regarding buses, so THANK YOU for helping us follow them and for making our pickup and drop offs run smoothly.

Office Contact Information

If you need to get in touch with the office, please email us, Cara Boss & Kristi Washburn, at pr@hollandchristian.org or call 616.820.3505. Feel free to leave a voicemail or send us an email at any time to excuse your student, let us know about appointments or any changes to your student’s normal pickup routine. It is important the office knows, as well as your student’s teacher!

Moms In Prayer

Moms In Prayer is a great way to connect with other moms, pray for your child, and have an impact on Pine Ridge. Please join us on Fridays at Providence Church 8:30-9:30am. Email Nicole Shook with questions.
