Psalm 8

A psalm of David.

1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

It is not by coincidence that all of our children throughout Holland Christian spend this month committing the worshipful words found in Psalm 8 to memory. King David invites us to look up and behold the majesty of our Creator. He implores us to marvel at the intricate mysteries spread before us on this earth and beyond. We are encouraged to listen to the praises of our young children and allow them to lead our hearts in praise to God. As a family, if you take walks outdoors this month as the earth unfurls in autumnal glory, you might speak together the words of Psalm 8 and offer our Creator worship as you walk. Your child may even lead you in motions or a tune to help you commit these inspirational truths to memory. It is such joy to walk this journey with your dear child.

Salmo 8

Yours in Christ’s service,

Miska

A Note from Food Services

Food service is in full swing, thanks to YOU for being patient and persistent with our Family Portal. Please continue to use the family portal to deposit funds into your lunch account. We are a pre-pay system, and appreciate families having funds in their child’s account when they choose to take hot lunch. There is no fee to deposit money into your account online. Familyportal.cloud is where you can deposit funds, or apply for lunch benefits. If you do not know your student account number, reach out and email Carla or email Laura in the office.

For those families that are receiving lunch benefits and want only milk, the NSLP does not give benefits for milk only. If your children want free or reduced price  milk, they may take a fruit or vegetable, and the milk will be under your benefits.

Half-day Professional Development

Moms In Prayer

Moms in Prayer is a great way to connect with other moms, to pray for your child, and have an impact on the community of Rose Park. We are looking for someone to head up this wonderful opportunity to facilitate moms (or dads or grandmas or aunts or grandpas!) who want to join together and pray. If you are curious what this opportunity would look like, we can connect you with the leader for Moms In Prayer for South Side, Pine Ridge and Forest School. Please let Carla or Laura in the office know if you would like to receive more information.
