After the long, cold and snowy month of February we very much look forward to March, and we are preparing a whole host of fun activities to take place in the next couple of months. Many of these activities have been put on hold the past two years due to COVID, so we are so excited to bring them back again. You will see some of them listed below with many others to come. This is also a time of year when teachers are working hard and getting students prepared for our spring parent-teacher conferences that will take place at the end of the month. This will be such a wonderful time to see all of the different ways that your child has grown spiritually, socially and academically. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to love and educate your child each day.

Announcements
Kids’ Stuff Resale
We are excited to be able to open this sale back up again this spring. Don’t miss this opportunity to shop for spring & summer items for your kiddos! March 5 from 9 am-noon. This sale is open to the public, so invite your friends! $1 entry fee for adults goes to Tuition Grant Fund.
Hearing & Vision Screening
The Allegan County Health Department will be in our school March 7-11 for hearing and vision screening. If your child wears glasses, please be sure he/she has them at school. Also, if you prefer to not have your child screened, you have the opportunity to opt out. Please provide documentation of a recent screening or your written refusal and hand it in to the office by Monday morning, March 7.
Illness/Appointments
As we continue to move through cold and flu season, please remember if your child has any of the following symptoms, please keep them home:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever (over 100.3)
- Fatigue & chills
- Loss of taste &/or smell
Your child needs to be free of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning back to school. For fevers, your child must be fever free without the use of fever reducing medicine for 24 hours.
If your child will not be present at school for illness or vacation OR if you are picking them up during the day for an appointment, please remember the office must be looped in on all communication regarding student’s schedules. Please send one email to your child’s teacher and CC the office using jritsema@hollandchristian.org and pmeiste@hollandchristian.org or call 616.820.3535 to leave a message with us or on the voicemail.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are coming up March 28 & 30, from 4-8 pm both days. You received an email on February 14 about how to sign up. Teachers deeply value your partnership, and are looking forward to this time of conversation with you!
From the Parent Board
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up, and we would love to bless our teachers with a meal! Please sign up here to help prepare a delicious taco meal for Monday, March 28.
Parent Board is also looking ahead to next year! Would you like to be part of our team? Help us plan/execute Walkathon, show teachers our appreciation throughout the year, and plan some fun events! Please contact Kelli Kruithof at kellikruithof@gmail.com if you’d like to hear more.
Spring Program
Save the date! Preschool through 5th grade students from all of our Holland Christian elementary campuses will be blessing us with their voices raised in worship through a spring program on Thursday, April 21 at 7 pm at Central Wesleyan Church. More details to come. We are so excited to be able to get back together face to face for this time of worship together!
Grandparents Day
We are super excited to be able to welcome grandparents back into our building for Grandparents Day! They are invited to visit South Side classrooms on Friday, April 22 from 8:30-9:30 am. Then they will be able to head over to Pine Ridge from 10-11 am. We can’t wait to do some fun activities with them, and have them back in our learning spaces!
Tulip Time
Please remember we have two sections for students to choose from to march in this year’s Tulip Time parade! Your student may be in the “tulip” section or the “Dutch Heritage” section. In order to make sure we have the correct props for all students, please fill out this survey as soon as possible!
Direct Your Dollars (Spartan Stores)
Please join us in earning money for our school by turning in grocery receipts each time you shop at a Spartan Nash store. In our area, if you shop at Family Fare or D&W stores and by turning in original grocery receipts to reach the $1,500 school goal, we will earn a $1,000 check from Spartan Nash toward a “Wish List” item for our school.
