Happy Spring,
Sun is shining, birds are chirping and buds are appearing–Spring is in the air! As seasons change, it is always the tangible reminder that we serve such an amazing creator who has planned such artistry for His creation. This time of year we also are able to get outside a lot more, both at home and at school, which makes for happy and engaged children. What a blessing it has been to watch our students grow spiritually, emotionally and academically. We look forward to the next few remaining weeks together, and we have a lot of exciting things happening this month as we wrap up the end of a school year.

Announcements
Tulip Time
Wednesday, May 11 will be a half day for all students with dismissal at 11:30am. There will be no Holland Public Bussing available at dismissal, but Holland Christian buses will run as usual.
Thursday, May 12, school will be dismissed for Kindergarteners at 11:30am. All Kindergarten students will need to use carpool that day, as all buses are being used for getting students to the parade. First and second graders will remain at school, eat a sack lunch from home (no hot lunch will be available), have recess, change into their marching apparel (if they choose not to wear it to school that day), and be bussed to the parade route. More information will be coming from your child’s teacher soon.
From the Parent Board
Thank you for the many ways you celebrated Teacher appreciation week! We appreciate you signing up to help cover classrooms so the teachers could enjoy a special lunch.
There’s still time to find out more about the Parent Board and join next year’s crew! If you’re interested and want to hear more, please join our final meeting of the year on May 20 at 2:00 at South Side. If you can’t make it but are still interested in hearing more, contact Kelli at kellikruithof@gmail.com.
Kindergarten Visit Day
On Friday, May 20, we will be welcoming our newest group of Kindergarteners, the class of 2035, to visit South Side from 9:00-10:00am. There will be some fun activities planned for newly enrolled Kindergarteners for the 2022-2023 school year, and a time of information for the parents. Families who enrolled will be receiving communication via email with more details soon!
Art Supplies
Our art teacher, Mrs. Hoogland, is looking to collect a variety of supplies for the art room. If you could save these supplies, and have your child drop them off at the art room it would be much appreciated:
- Large family size ice cream containers with lids
- Empty gallon jugs of milk from Meijer
- Clear 2 lb. deli containers
- Milk jug caps
- Styrofoam meat trays
Before/After School Care: 2022-23
If you are interested in using the Before and/or After School Care Program for the 2022-23 school year, please sign up using this electronic South Side Before/After School Care Form. The program is for students in Preschool-5th grade. If your child(ren) attends South Side and/or Pine Ridge, then you will need to fill out this form for South Side. If you have any questions, please contact Tammy Grassmid at tgrassmid@hollandchristian.org.
End of the Year Chapel
Save the date! We will have a special end of the year Chapel to send off our 2nd graders on the last day of school, Friday, June 3. Come gather with us from 10:25-11:15am for a time of worship together. We’ll be out on the playground, so bring a lawn chair if you’d like. After chapel, Preschool students will be dismissed, and K-2 students will have a quick 15 minutes to close out the year in the classrooms with their teacher, and their dismissal will follow at 11:30am.
Thank You
A huge thank you to all for supporting the 1st grade Rainforest Bake Sale initiative to raise funds to help save and protect these precious lands! Through your support, we raised slightly over $400.00. We feel so blessed by your support with this project! We are also thankful for being able to hold this event again after a two-year hiatus.
