Educational Support Services

Holland Christian believes every student is created in the image of God with unique gifts, abilities, and learning needs.

Our Student Support Services are designed to help students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually so they can reach their God-given potential within our Christ-centered learning community.

We provide a continuum of support based on each student’s individual needs. Support begins in the classroom and increases as needed through a collaborative process involving teachers, parents, and support staff.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports

Most students receive the support they need through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This framework allows us to identify learning needs early and provide targeted interventions before students fall significantly behind. These supports may include:

  • Small-group intervention
  • Academic skill development
  • Reading, writing, and math interventions
  • Organizational and executive functioning support
  • Classroom accommodations that are appropriate within our educational program
  • Ongoing progress monitoring and collaboration with families

The goal of MTSS is to provide timely, effective support while helping students experience success in the general education classroom whenever possible.

Continuum of Educational Support Services

Our school is equipped to serve students with mild to moderate disabilities through Personalized Education Plans (PEPs)  and specialized instructional support. We strive to create an environment where students are known, valued, and challenged to develop their God-given gifts while participating fully in our Christ-centered community.

Students who are evaluated through the public school district’s Child Find process and are found eligible for special education services may receive support through a PEP which is developed collaboratively by school staff, parents, and, when appropriate, the public school district. The plan outlines the student’s educational strengths, areas of need, accommodations, modifications, goals, and specialized support that can be provided within our school’s programs and resources.

Not every student with learning challenges qualifies for special education services. Students who demonstrate academic needs but are not found eligible through the Child Find process may still receive targeted support through our MTSS framework.

Each student’s needs are carefully considered to determine whether our programs and services can provide an appropriate educational experience. While we are able to support many students with a variety of learning needs, there are times when a student’s academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or functional needs require a level of specialized programming beyond what our school can reasonably provide.

When this occurs, we partner closely with families to prayerfully and thoughtfully determine the educational setting that will best meet their child’s unique needs. Our priority is always the student’s growth and well-being. We will assist families in exploring programs and services that can provide the level of support their child requires so they can learn, grow, and flourish.

Although these conversations can be difficult, they are guided by our commitment to act in the best interest of each student and to help every child thrive in the educational environment that is best suited to their needs.

Our desire is to provide meaningful, individualized support that enables students to grow academically while remaining fully engaged in our Christ-centered community.

Partnering with Families

We believe parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Our support team works closely with families throughout the school year to discuss student progress, celebrate growth, and make thoughtful decisions about interventions and support.

Whether a student is receiving classroom interventions through MTSS or has a Personalized Education Plan our goal remains the same: to provide an educational experience that reflects both academic excellence and the love of Christ. Together, we seek to nurture every student’s God-given gifts and equip them to flourish as learners, disciples, and members of our school community.
