Coed Unified Athletics

Our HCS Special Olympics Unified Sports teams, like all Special Olympics Unified Sports teams nationwide, join males and females with intellectual disabilities, officially called the “athletes,” and students without disabilities, or the “partners,” on the same teams.

At any given time during games, an equal or greater number of athletes to parters need to be out on the court of field. The idea behind Special Olympics Unified Sports is not only to give kids with special needs a normative experience, but also to use sports as a quick avenue “to friendship and understanding.”  You can read more about Unified Sports on the Special Olympics Website.

For questions about our high school Special Olympics Unified Sports teams, contact our High School Unified Sports Coordinator Ann Pawloski at apawloski@hollandchristian.org.
