Science Teacher

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and adopted at 7 months. I grew up on the north side of Holland, attending WOPS. I was not brought up in a Christian home, but morals were important and emphasized. Jesus got ahold of my life at the University of Michigan where I met a group of Christians who became good friends. Seeing them live out their lives was compelling to me, and soon I was attending Bible studies and church with them, watching Ray VanderLaan videos (ironically). I started to read the Bible regularly and with excitement. Getting into God’s word was the spark that ignited the flame of my faith. My life’s transformation is a testimony to God’s grace and the power of His living Word. I am excited to be part of Christian education because it is an awesome opportunity to walk alongside young people as they continue to develop and deepen their relationship with God.  I think teaching science provides a wonderful opportunity to explore what God has created and how His creation ultimately points to Him. Educationally, I have my BS Environmental Policy & Behavior from the University of Michigan, an MA in Curriculum & Instruction from Calvin University (2015). Before HC, I taught middle school and high school science at Fennville Public Schools. My wife, Sarah, and I have 3 children: Eleanor (Nora), John and Anna.
