After graduating from Calvin University with a B.A. in Art Education, I felt well equipped for my first teaching position at the Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center. Following that, I accepted a position at West Ottawa Public Schools, working with a spirited and driven art department filled with a common desire to develop and implement a rigorous art curriculum. In 2010 I received an M.A. in Art Ed from Kendall College of Art & Design. After 20 years of teaching, last year I found myself leaning into a calling to work with older students and taught private classes to youth and adults. I feel deeply honored to walk alongside high school students, growing them in their passions, curiosities, gifts, and personal callings. What a gift to observe and guide learners into discovering and deepening their skills of seeing and creating. My passion for the arts comes from my belief that we are ALL created by our Creator to create, no matter the field or line of work. I’m grateful to have an opportunity to grow in Christ along with the wonderful students and staff!
