In 1995, I graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Science Studies and a secondary education teaching certificate. I finished my M.Ed. with a biology emphasis in 2003 through Grand Valley State University. I began teaching science at Holland Christian in 1995 where I have served on a variety of committees and as a coach for volleyball and track. In 2000-2001, I took a leave of absence to teach at Sahel Academy, an international school in Niger, West Africa.
The more I learn about the world around me, the more amazed I am at the order and beauty in such a complex universe and the more I feel I get a glimpse of how amazing God truly is. It is exciting to expose students to this beauty, complexity and order, and it is my prayer that through a growing understanding of the world, they will see God more clearly and they will desire to become good stewards of the blessings they have been given.
