It has been a privilege for me to be part of the Holland Christian family since 2000. I am a graduate of Grand Valley State with degrees in Social Studies and Political Science and a Masters in Educational Leadership. I love teaching middle schoolers, and I love teaching early American history, especially from a Christian perspective, because it allows me to guide students through both the beauty and the brokenness of our nation’s story. Teaching American history gives me the opportunity to help students wrestle honestly with our rich legacy of courage, faith, creativity, and hope, while also confronting painful failures marked by injustice and suffering. In it, I see clear parallels to our shared need for redemption and the hope we have in Christ's redeeming work.
