Dear Middle School Parents,
In the past month, I’ve attended three funerals, including one this week for Laura Kool, aged 38, and the daughter of Bob Kool, who dedicated over 40 years to teaching at HC. Each service held moments of reflection and celebration, emphasizing the positive impact each person had on others, closely tied to their families. This week’’s funeral movingly mentioned how Laura’s last breath on Earth was followed by her next one in front of Jesus.
During the funeral, the pastor referenced and spoke on the following texts:
- John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.“
- John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.“
I’m sharing this to encourage you to live with the awareness that our time on Earth is finite. Teach your children to love their neighbors, and prioritize a relationship with God, as these have eternal value. Living for Christ brings peace, even in life’s most challenging moments. I hope you find both peace and joy as you navigate the journey of raising your middle schoolers.
God bless,
Tom Strikwerda
