Last year at Pine Ridge we started what we called “Chapel Groups.” This was a time where multi-aged groups were formed, and with the leadership of a staff member we would focus on our monthly scripture or the message from that week’s chapel. This year, we have also started to live into one of our values here at Holland Christian, Discovery, and have refined our chapel group time through the lenses of discovering:
During our chapel groups this year we have been listening to a recorded video word from our Director of Faith Formation, then dive into the memory verse for the month, and connect with each other. This time has been a great way to help us stay rooted in the Word, and has helped kids discover the wonders of scripture. They are starting to see themselves in the scripture and are learning to explain their thinking to their peers, which is such a beautiful thing to watch!
I pray this month you find ways to dive into scripture and discover something new and exciting that the Word is teaching you. It is my desire that we continue to grow in this way here at Pine Ridge.
In Christ,
Dinah Pereira

A Few Notes from Parent Board
Urban Air Night
Pine Ridge students are invited to a night out at Urban Air November 6th! Cost is $5 per student. Permission slips have been sent home. Please be sure to bring the form back (even if you fill out the online version) as well as your $5 to the office in advance! This will help us get everyone in and jumping quicker.
This event is for Pine Ridge students only–no siblings. Parents are encouraged to stay.
Book Fair: December 8-10
Our school book fair is more than just a chance to pick up a new favorite book–it is a fun and exciting way to support our school library! Every purchase helps us earn new books for our Pine Ridge library by putting more stories, knowledge and inspiration into the hands of our students. In order to make this happen, we need your help! Please sign up to help us make our school book fair a successful event.
Even if you can’t help out, please come join the fun and help us grow our library, one book at a time! You are welcome to come in and check out the fair or you can order online as well.
The online store link will be available starting November 14 to view and December 5 to shop.
Student Life & Discipleship
This month we have introduced Pine Ridge Shout-outs. This is a fun weekly announcement where grade-levels, individual classes or even teachers get a “shout-out” for showing a discipleship practice while also exhibiting exceptional PR expectations. These shout outs are then posted near the library for others to see throughout the week. It has been a fun way to connect with students and staff on how we can continue to be community growers, grace breathers, creation keepers and true servants to one another-it’s amazing to see and hear throughout the school. Students are excited to hear their class and/or grace level each week and are encouraging each other each week.
Practice Respect, Practice Responsibility, Practice positive Relationships.
Pine Ridge Carpool Line
Please watch your email this weekend (October 31-November 2) for an update on what next week’s carpool will look like! We are hoping to be back to normal on Monday.
Moms in Prayer
Moms in Prayer meets Fridays at Providence Church across from the middle school from 8:30-9:30am. We look forward to welcoming any moms who would like to partner in prayer for this school year! Please email Nicole Shook for any questions.
Medications at School
As a reminder, no student may be in possession of any medication over the counter or otherwise. The only exceptions are an epipen or inhaler with the correct forms completed in the office!
Food Services
For students taking hot lunch, please deposit money into your student’s online portal before they order! If you have any questions about lunches, please contact Sue.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool is our student information database. You will want to bookmark this site! There is also an app available for PowerSchool for your phone which can be very helpful. If there is a change in your phone number or address at any time during the school year, it is important that we are informed right away. Parents can update their information on PowerSchool directly on the Demographics Change tab. This assures up-to-date contact information for your child.
Elementary Handbook
The Elementary Handbook is a great resource for parents providing important details on things like our curriculum, discipline policy, technology policy, etc.
