Dear Forest Friends,

There is something beautiful about watching Forest Kids begin to see the world as God’s good creation—and themselves as image-bearers called to care for it. As they wonder, explore, help one another, and nurture the life around them, they are practicing what it means to be kingdom bringers. We teach them that every part of creation belongs to Christ, and every small act of love and stewardship can reflect His goodness. What a joy to watch our youngest learners grow in the knowledge that they are part of God’s story, called to bring His light into the world right where He has planted them.

With thanks,

Miska

Welcome Walk

At Holland Christian, we believe that choosing a school is about more than academics, it is about finding a community where children are known, loved, and encouraged to grow in faith, wonder, and learning. The Welcome Walk is designed to give families an authentic glimpse into the heart of our school.

Through this interactive experience, families are invited to explore classrooms alongside their children, meet the teachers who will guide and nurture them, and experience the culture that shapes daily life within our school community. As families move through the building/playscape, engage in hands-on activities, and connect with staff, they gain a deeper understanding of our commitment to Christ-centered learning, meaningful relationships, and joyful discovery.

Time: 2:15 – 3:00pm

  • Monday, November 9 – Forest School: Cedar Creek
  • Thursday, November 12 – Forest School: Cabins
  • Monday, November 16 – Rose Park
  • Thursday, November 19 – South Side

Open to ALL families at ALL of our campuses to explore any campus you’re curious about. Parents and children walk the campus open house style and meet with teachers to help guide decision making for enrollment next year. Please RSVP for the event of your choosing here.

Heaven and Nature Sing

You are invited to celebrate Christ’s birth at our annual “Heaven and Nature Sing” event! This year ALL preschool-5th South Side Elementary, Forest School and Pine Ridge Elementary families are invited to attend our FREE HC Christmas celebration at Michigan Farmstead (formally known as The Critter Barn)! Walk together through the Luke 2 Christmas story, experience a live nativity and join in for Christmas caroling. An RSVP is requested by November 30 so we can prepare a smooth and joy-filled experience for your family.

Student Life and Discipleship (SLD)

Our Student Life and Discipleship initiative fosters positive community interactions while helping children identify their emotions and express their needs effectively. These foundational skills empower students to contribute meaningfully to their community and support their personal growth. We provide direct instruction in behavior expectations and intentionally celebrate success when demonstrated. Our first Pinning Ceremony recognized the accomplishments of all Young 5s–2 students and offered a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our growth together at Bella Vista Farms. We are eager to begin Quarter Two with continued momentum and joy.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Thank for taking the time to come in and meet with your child’s teacher. We love partnering with you and helping your child thrive at school, at home and all the places in between!

Thank You!

A sincere thank you to the Parent Board for providing delicious food to refuel teachers during parent/teacher conferences. These meals were greatly enjoyed and appreciated!

Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school Wednesday, November 25-Friday, November 27 so families can celebrate Thanksgiving. Enjoy this special time together as a family celebrating our great God, and the many blessings in our lives.

Dressing for the Weather

This is the time of year where the weather changes so frequently its hard to keep up with. Please make sure your child has weather appropriate school each day–including snow gear and boots! Also, now is a good time to double check the extra clothes your child has to make sure they are weather appropriate (and still fit their quickly growing bodies!) If you have any questions about what your child has or needs, please reach out to their teacher.

Late Arrival & Early Pick-Up

Please remember to let both the email the office and your child’s teacher know if your student is going to be late or leaving during our school day. Also, please make sure to sign your student in and out with our attendance form.

Absences

Please call the school office at 616.820.3505 or email the office any time before 8:30am to let us know each day your child will be absent. You may leave a voicemail any time and it will be checked in the morning when the office opens. Please leave any symptoms your sick child may have; this information is a requirement for us to report to the county!

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer is a great way to connect with other moms, pray for your child, and have an impact on the school. Please join us on Fridays at Providence Church from 8:30-9:30am. Please email Nicole Shook with questions.

Elementary Handbook

The Elementary Handbook is a great resource for parents providing important details on things like our curriculum, discipline policy, etc.
