YOU are invited to Holland Christian’s special home football game THIS WEEK Friday, September 11, against Hamilton Schools! In honor of it being on September 11 (9/11), and the 25th anniversary of the original 9/11, this game is designated as a Public Safety Night, to honor the brave heroes who lost their lives 25 years ago and serve as a poignant reminder of their sacrifice on that fateful day. Furthermore, HC wants to express its gratitude and support for the dedicated public servants in all of Ottawa and Allegan Counties, who stand ready to protect and serve our community at a moment’s notice.
This is an especially meaningful recognition for the HC AND Hamilton community as former Hamilton fire chief, Chief David Haverdink–the father of Holland Christian’s new Head of Schools, Jeff Haverdink ’93–was struck and killed while on duty, responding to a call on December 23, 2025, and subsequently dying from the injuries on Christmas day, 2025.
The game and food is free for all public servants and their families showing their badges. There will be recognition of our area’s public safety servants by local leaders, as well as fun community events during halftime. We’d love to have you join us in this larger community event!
