I walk into the music room and see children dancing and singing praises to Jesus. I look outside and see a class of second graders gathered around the flagpole, praying together. I help pass out Bibles to kindergarteners so they can spend time finding their favorite Bible story. I hear about the Jesus Storybook Bible that HC2 students enjoy reading together for their Wednesday devotional. And I am invited to visit a preschool classroom, where the students tell me they will be praying for me all week.
All throughout the day, South Siders are being rooted in God’s Word. We hear Bible stories, talk about what it means to follow Jesus, and sing songs of praise to our great God. Being Word Rooted is a core discipleship practice for all of Holland Christian. From their earliest moments with us and throughout their years at HC, we want our students to know God’s Word, treasure it, and fall more deeply in love with Jesus through it.
What a gift it is to watch these young children begin to grow roots that will, by God’s grace, sustain them for a lifetime!

Thank You
Thank you so much for your generous donations to the 2026 Parent-Partners sponsored Walkathon! Our students had so much fun getting their steps in at the high school, and we are so grateful for the funds raised!
From the Parent Board
Parents: we would love to bless our teachers with a meal on the evening of October 8 when they are here for Y5s-2nd grade conferences. If you are willing, please sign up to contribute.
Save the Date! November 9, 6-8pm: Rollxscape has been reserved for South Side students, preschool – 2nd. Cost is $5 per person. (This event is for South Side Students only – no siblings). Parents are required to stay.
Note from Food Service
Food service is in full swing! Please continue to use the Family Portal to deposit funds into your lunch account. We are a pre-pay system, and there is no fee to deposit money into your account online. If you do not know your student account number, reach out and email Rachel.
For those families receiving lunch benefits and who want only milk, the NSLP does not give benefits for milk only. If your child wants free or reduced-price milk, students may take a fruit or vegetable, and the milk will be under their benefits.
Welcome Walk
Current families: check out ALL of our school options for your child!
At Holland Christian, we believe that choosing a school is about more than academics, it is about finding a community where children are known, loved, and encouraged to grow in faith, wonder, and learning. The Welcome Walk is designed to give families an authentic glimpse into the heart of our school.
Through this interactive experience, families are invited to explore classrooms alongside their children, meet the teachers who will guide and nurture them, and experience the culture that shapes daily life within our school community. As families move through the building/playscape, engage in hands-on activities, and connect with staff, they gain a deeper understanding of our commitment to Christ-centered learning, meaningful relationships, and joyful discovery.
Our newly created “Welcome Walks” are open to ALL CURRENT HC preschool and Young 5s students at ALL of our campuses to explore any campus you’re curious about. Parents and children walk the campus open house style and meet with teachers to help guide decision making for enrollment next year. Please RSVP here to any or all of the campus options!

Morning Carpool Updates
If you are getting out of the car and walking your child to the door or into the building please park on 25th St. or in a parking space. The drop off line up by the curb is for parents who are dropping students off and letting them walk into the building on their own, so we want to keep that line open for cars to keep driving forward. Full carpool details are found here.
- Preschool: Parents must walk students in and sign in at the classroom. Classrooms open at 8:15 M, T, Th, F and 8:30 on Wednesday.
- HC2: It takes longer for students to get used to the morning routines when they come only one day a week. You may continue to come in with your child, but as they are ready, you are welcome to use the carpool line to just drop them off or walk them to the door and say good-bye there.
- Elementary: Y5-2nd grade families: Good-byes are usually easier at the car or the front door. Since the kids are use to school and routines now at this new location, we ask that you to let them exit your car and walk in on their own or say a quick good-bye at the front door. If it is a hard morning, our staff is always willing to meet them and walk them in. If you need to come into the building we ask that you get in the habit of stopping in the office to sign in.
Student Life and Discipleship
I shared last month that our students are South Side Stars when they “control myself,” “think about others,” and “take care of our stuff.” As our staff catch the students demonstrating these star behaviors, one way we encourage students is by having them bring a star sticker to the office to add to our poster. At the end of September our first poster is already starting to fill up. When it is full we will have a school wide celebration. Take a minute to ask your son or daughter if they have gotten to put up a star yet. What was their super star behavior?

Picture Retakes
As soon as we receive school pictures from GPI, we will send them home. If you are unhappy with the way pictures turned out, retakes will be Wednesday, November 4. Please remember to email your child’s teacher so she can note that you need retakes, and also send your child’s original picture packet back to school.
Lost & Found
The office is continuing to update our South Side Lost and Found Photo Album as items come into the gray tub in the office. Please check it out to see if any of these items belong to your child. Feel free to email Rachel Steen, to claim your item(s), and we will be sure to get it in your child’s backpack
Parent University 2.0: Forming Our Kids for A Life of Joy Rooted in Christ
What if raising happy kids isn’t about making childhood easier but making it formative?
Join us for an engaging evening inspired by The Happiness Crisis, by Jonathan Eckert, as we explore how adversity, belonging, curiosity, responsibility, and real-world experiences help form resilient, joyful, faithful kids.
We’ll laugh, reflect, wrestle with real parenting scenarios, and leave with one simple commitment to bring home.
Not simply happy children.
Joyful, resilient, Christ-centered adults.
Come discover a childhood worth having and how we can build it together.
