Financial Aid

We believe the cost of a Christian education should never stop a family from sending their children here.

We have a variety of financial aid grants available to families based on grade level, family backgrounds, income levels, and alumni status. Please read on to learn about these different Financial Aid programs available to Holland Christian families, including our TRIP program.

K-12 Grants Available for 1st Time Enrollment

Alumni Grant

Alumni will receive a $1,000 grant when they enroll their first child at Holland Christian in kindergarten-12th Grade. The $1,000 credit can be used for tuition for the first year of enrollment or can be held for use in a later year.

ABC Grant

Holland Christian offers the ABC (A Beginning Commitment) Grant to families with children in our preschool program. Families who enroll their first child in preschool at Holland Christian and then kindergarten and 1st grade the following years will receive a $1,000 grant. $500 of the $1,000 credit will be applied to kindergarten tuition and the remaining $500 will be applied to 1st grade tuition the following year. For more information on the ABC grant, please contact admissions at 616. 820.2805 or through our contact form.

Families with students in grades 1-12 who transfer in to Holland Christian Schools will be offered a $1,000 grant per full-time child for the first year of enrollment.

K-12 Grants Available to all Families

Go Ahead Grant

Through the generosity of several constituents who believe in supporting Christian education by making it more affordable for families in the community, Holland Christian has been positioned to provide this new affordability grant, beginning in the 2022.23 school year.

The Go Ahead Grant, once fully approved, will be available to full-time K-12 students, and will assist as follows: $1,000 grants for the first child in K-5th grade and prorated for additional children based on the multiple child discount tuition schedule, and similarly applied $300 grants for students in 6th-12th grade.

Here are examples for families with elementary children:

For an expanded list of examples, including Middle and High School students, see the proposed 22-23 tuition schedule below. The Go Ahead Grant will be made available annually. No application is necessary to receive the Go Ahead Grant, but families will be asked to opt in before the start of each academic year.

Tuition Grant Fund

A Tuition Grant is a need-based grant available to families with demonstrated financial need via an application process. For the 2021-2022 school year, Holland Christian distributed approximately $1 million to families through the Tuition Grant Fund.

The Tuition Grant online application process for the 2022-23 school year begins February 1. The FACTS application is online here. If you have questions, please contact our tuition accounts manager, Terry VanDerKolk, at tvanderkolk@hollandchristian.org or call 616.820.2807.

ditto Grant

The ditto Upscale Resale store was established to provide financial support to Holland Christian and Zeeland Christian families. The store’s net proceeds are granted to families to reduce the cost of tuition. This grant is available to every Holland Christian student regardless of financial need, though parents can choose to opt out and donate their grant to other students. The per student grant amount for the 21-22 school year was $325.

Foundation Grant

The Holland Christian Education Foundation is a fund established to reduce the cost of tuition for all families and to provide financial stability for the school. Each year a percentage of the earnings of the Foundation are gifted back to HC families in the form of a Foundation Grant. This grant is available to every Holland Christian student regardless of financial need, though, again, parents can choose to opt out of this grant and donate it to other students. The per student grant amount for the 21-22 school year is $410.

This year the Foundation and Ditto Grants combined reduce each child’s tuition by almost $800. These grants have already been taken out of the published 21-22 tuition rates.

Minority Scholarships

Scholarships are available to racial or ethnic minority parents who are enrolling their children at Holland Christian Schools. These scholarships are based on financial need and are available through an endowment established by donors specifically to encourage ethnic and racial diversity at the school. Applications are available from Terry VanDerKolk in the HCS Administration Office. Please contact Terry at 616.820.2807 or tvanderkolk@hollandchristian.org for more information.

Preschool Grants Available

Ready for School provides need-based grants for 3-year-old programs in the greater Holland area. Please contact Ready for School on their website for additional information.

Ready for School

TRIP

TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program) is a fundraising program in which individuals can purchase gift cards (online or via a paper order form) through Holland Christian Schools to shop at major food, gas, and retail stores.

The stores sell our HC TRIP program the gift cards at a discount that varies from store to store. The school then sells the cards at face value to participants and credits their tuition account with the difference. And anyone in the community can participate!
