Dear HCHS Families,
Thank you for another incredible year of partnership in fulfilling our mission to equip minds and nurture hearts to transform the world for Jesus Christ. It has been such a gift and privilege to be able to witness the significant growth each of your children made in the classroom and on the court, field, and stage. God has done amazing work in your children’s hearts and minds, and we are so excited to see what he has in store for them whether they are excelling to the next grade, moving on to college, or launching their careers.
This year’s theme has been to seek first the Kingdom of God, and one of the important lessons RVL gives his students each year is that God’s Kingdom is not established with a label or flag. Rather, his kingdom is the range of his effective will, where what he wants done is done, and this year our students displayed in countless ways a renewed desire to seek how to bring God’s Kingdom to bear within HC’s walls through the deepening of their discipleship to Jesus. As we step into the summer, our deep hope is that your families are able to rejuvenate from a full year and take time to practice a core discipline of Jesus: stillness and prayer. Jesus often would go off to a secret or solitary place to be with his Father (Mark 1:35, Luke 6:12, Luke 22:41), and I pray that your family may have ample opportunities to do likewise and reflect on all the ways God is moving in your lives and communities .
At this time of year, we also want to express our gratitude for the service of a few of our colleagues who will not be returning to the high school next year. With grateful hearts, we say farewell to Mr. Brian Lemmen (Math Teacher), Ms. Corry Vander Sluis (Spanish Teacher), Mr. Dale Eizenga (Science Teacher), Mr. Jason Oosting (History Teacher), Mr. Caleb Brink (English Teacher), Ms. Jen Bieri (Athletic Administrative Assistant), Mr. Bill Klokkert (Custodian), and Mr. Paul Klokkert (Facility Coordinator and Head Custodian). We cannot thank them enough for the love, time, and support that they have given to our students here at the high school. We are confident that God will bless them greatly as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers in serving these students and the community. May our Father continue to bless you and your families during this upcoming summer.
With Thanks,
Miles Colago, HS Principal

Summer Music Lessons
Summer is a great time to improve your musical skills. There are so many details and instrument specific things that we can cover in summer lessons that are tricky to get to in a full band or orchestra setting. We can also help you prepare for the coming year! Please contact Mr. VandenBerg if you are interested or if you have questions.
Fall Musical Audition Information
This Fall, we are proud to present the brand new musical, Pride and Prejudice! Based on the beloved novel by Jane Austen, the story follows clever and headstrong Elizabeth Bennet and her family, who are facing mounting pressure to marry off five daughters before their estate is inherited by a distant cousin. The family’s situation is complicated by the arrival of two gentlemen in their town: charming and wealthy Mr. Bingley, who instantly forms a crush on the eldest Bennet sister, and Mr. Darcy, his pompous and cold friend who becomes Elizabeth’s nemesis after a disastrous first encounter. As Bingley and Jane’s romance keeps pulling them into each other’s orbits, Elizabeth and Darcy find themselves sparring over their ideas of love, freedom and happiness. Their fiery exchanges and mutual disdain only seem to deepen, but underneath it all, something more complicated stirs. Can their intense animosity evolve into something deeper, or will their pride and prejudice tear them apart forever? Auditions for Pride & Prejudice will be held the first week of school in August. To prepare in advance for auditions, please fill out the audition form and join the official P&P Google Classroom, where more audition resources and information will be posted over the summer. If you have any questions about the musical or the audition process, please contact Mrs. Davis at jdavis@hollandchristian.org We look forward to seeing you all in August!
