High School Athletes
Holland Christian partners with ETS Zeeland to offer year round performance training for all athletes. Our goal is for athletes to be at their physical best to compete at their highest level in their sport by the end of their season and to reduce the risk of injury along the way. High school athletes enrolled in a strength and conditioning physical education course can fulfill both their in-season and out-of-season expectations during the semester they are enrolled and participating in the class during the school day.
The fall season runs from the beginning of school through November 8, the winter season runs from November 11 through March 7 and the spring season runs from March 10 through June 6. All sessions begin at the high school weight room.
Athletes on a high school team in any season (and not in a S&C PE class) have two 45 minute in-season training sessions with their team/program as part of their practice (many have one session before school and one session after school). When a season concludes, athletes are encouraged to switch into the available off-season sessions or continue to train in-season with the varsity team until their season concludes.
Athletes who are not in-season (and not in a S&C PE class) are encouraged to participate in the off-season program, which runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when school is in session from 3:45-4:45pm all school year long. During the winter season only (November 11 through March 7), there are additional sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays before school for off-season training from 6:30-7:30am as well.
Middle School Athletes
Holland Christian has two middle school winter off-season sessions for students in grades 6-8 for student athletes from both HC and ZC to learn to train properly and better prepare for training in high school. Session A runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-3:45pm November 12 through December 19. Session B runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-3:45pm January 14 through February 27. The middle school sessions are free of charge, but students need to be registered (campscui.active.com/orgs/HollandChristianSchool). There is a limit of 30 students/session.
*There is no registration for the off-season or in-season high school training during the school year, but regular attendance is expected to benefit from the program.
*Registration for summer sessions include a registration fee and are offered as one of our “summer camps”.
